Suzie if you really really want to sort out the internet then that's
fine by me!

It's prob a good idea to set up a bank account so that we can pay all
of the bills from it and set up standing orders etc. so if you don't
mind doing that too that would be fab? Otherwise i can do it, no probs.

For the internet First - you will have to call BT and check that there
is an active BT line going to our house. The number you need to ring is
0800 800 150 (between 8 and 8 weekdays and Sat), they will prob try and
offer you a phone/internet deal but we don't need it. All we need to
know from them is if there is a BT line going to the house and what the
phone number is.

Then, I think most of us want to go for the Homecall offer - the
£29.99 one, BUT you may want to check with Jamie, Katie and Chris cos
they've not posted whether they are in agreement. It works out at
£4.29 a month which i think is pretty good value.

Once a bank account has been opened you will need to call 08712 302 530
and speak to them about joining.

If you're happy to do all that then go for it! If not i don't mind, i'm
not really doing much atm! But the bank account does need to be sorted
fairly quickly - as we can't sort water/electricity without one.

hey people, that internet offer sounds fine to me! regarding the
router, they r pretty easy to get ya hands on, even 8 port ones, get em
off amazon and they are pretty cheap too (no more than 60quid), and
then all everyone needs to get is a usb cable that reaches their room
(ok for me and chris, will have to be rather long for the rest of you).
the longer the cable = higher in price, so i am thinking that it will
work out more expensive to set up our own network than to buy theirs
off them. i think maybe we should think about ringing em up and saying
we will offer 70quid for the lot as it will be be cheaper tthis way.
and then when we leave, we can try to sell it to the next tennants,
thus making our money back! its just an idea, so let me no wat u all
think! also, there is an ironing board there alreadyso that ok!!

Hey, so, there's issues! Have set up a BT line (01903630330) no probs
and there's no connection fee either which is grand, but whatever ISP
we're with we'll have to pay £11.50/month to BT for line rental, so
with the 2mb homecall that will be £41.49/month=£5.93 each...which
still isnt that bad?Mr BT tried to sell me a BT package but it had a
15g download limit so i still think homecall is the way to go if
everyones happy with it?i'm going to set up a bank account for the
bills tomorrow and i'll put some money in to cover stuff for now and
once thats done i was going to try and sort the internet straight away
so if you don't want it, tell me now!i've text katie but i've not got
chris' no. so if someone could maybe run it past him and tell me if he
doesnt want it?the only thing is, i rang homecall to check our area was
covered and they said we could def have a 1/2mb one, and they might
have to send engineers but we should be able to have 1mb but that was
the max, whereas BT said we can definitely have the 2mb...i really
don't understand this cos surely if the line can do it, it can do it
for anyone but this makes my head hurt slightly so i'm just gonna get
the basic line rental from BT then contact homecall again and if they
can't do 2meg we should rethink? aaaaaaaaaaaagh i knew i shouldnt be in
charge of anything it all goes pete tong ok so yeah, any suggestions
let me know!

yeah buying the old network off them sounds easier and cheaper as getting wires could be tricky, although could we get wireless? stabby said it would work even with susie's computer, but i'm not sure. hmmmm.....
