At deregulation in 1986, I.V.L. decided to spread its wings, and to coin
the phrase ‘do what it says on the tin’, attempted to Link Valleys where it
previously hadn’t operated. One such venture was in Gwent, (Monmouthshire),
where it targeted the district known locally as the Eastern Valley, which
encompassed Blaenafon in the north to Newport in the south, and was one of
National Welsh’s main operating areas.
Services included Pontypool – Newport, Pontypool – Blackwood, Pontypool –
Cwmbran, and a town service in Cwmbran and Pontypool.
