I find it interesting how people think that there are two types of
Christians; the evil, accept-Jesus-or-you're-going-to-hell type
Christians that hate everyone that is not like them, and the pacifist
conservatives who believe in love and gun control. Isn't there a
happy medium somewhere?
I find that there is a third option amongst us. There is the kind
that really care about what happens to other human beings eternal
souls. But as with all groups, there are the activists and the
pacifists. Atheism for example, there is the kind that truly hate
Christians purely because of a guilt by association type deal, and
there is the type that truly believes there is no God and could care
less about what Christians have to say. Sadly, I have been browsing
this sight and found many of all these types of people.
I just wanted to share that there are people that truly do care, even
if it isn't shown that way all the time.
I guess, all that to say, don't judge an entire group of people by an
experience you've had with just a handful of them. That's how
stereotypes came into existence! And one of the things I hate the
most are stereotypes...which seem to be going on a lot in today's
world.

Well, sure, I know a whole spectrum of different types of Christians.
The reason more tends to get written about the kooks is simply that
they are more entertaining than the normal Christians. It's like this
-- who would you rather see a documentary on, John. Q. Public, an
accountant who has a very ordinary life, or John Q. Public, a clown
whose day consists of ranting and raving on street corners and getting
arrested for creating public disturbances?

Most people would watch the crackpot, because it promises more laughs
and conflict than the accountant. So, sorry if you feel elft out or
"lumped together" with all the weirdos. It's just the way things go...

Well, I don't "hate christians". I hate stupid people who happen to be
ignorant assholes. Some of those people tend to be Christians (or at
least claim to be). Mostly, I enjoy poking fun at people who believe
things that I find strange. But part of that involves learning what
they beleive before determining if it's crazy of not.

Same here. I am an atheist who trully cares about other people. I care
that a lot of people are choosing a lifestyle that prefers ignorance
and dogma over reality and logic. I feel sorry for all the ignorant
people who are throwing their money into causes that try to impose
religious ideals on the public (like injecting creationism into public
schools). I abhor the willful ignorance of people who prefer one-line
answers to complex problems.

Everyone creates and uses stereotypes, and it's perfectly natural.
What we need to learn is which stereotypes are real, and which are
unfounded.
