Well I can see your emails Eileen!
Hi I dropped in to take a look at this board- not convinced that we should abandon Yahoo.  For those of you who don't know me, I am part of the team known as the Crazy Canucks and live in southern Ontario CAN.  I have two weims, a siamese cat and 7 pet ducks.  I am an advocate for leash free dog parks, volunteer with weim rescue, have participated in all breed transports.

Just to test this board I am attaching a photo to see if they display.

Cheers

Heatherrrrrrrrrrr!

Harl's and I have made the move too!

I'm Johanna Lynch, I've had my Weim, Harley, since early '99 (he just had
his 11th birthday) and while we started out in Canada, we moved to Australia
in 2001 and have enjoyed life here thoroughly ever since!!!

I also have a husband, Damian, and a 3 1/2 year old son, Peter.
I also have a Belgian Tervueren, 3 cats, and 4 fallow deer.

Do the deer and the dogs interact at all? Are the deer tame, like pets?

Hi Martha!
The dogs and deer only interact through the fence. Harley used to point them
(picture attached), but he's pretty over paying any attention to them now.
Salsa tries to herd them through the fence. We used to have more but several
ended up in the freezer. They're too old to eat now and they just keep the
grass down in their paddock. If the dogs or Peter aren't around they'll come
up and nearly take bread out of my hand, but we can't pat them.

i just can't wait until little genie spots some critters. when she
first came home we would go out in the dogrun. she would actually
hear the hummingbird wings beating and she'd watch them fly over the
dog run to get to the feeder. she also once saw a heron flying way
overhead. initially she leaped in the air (maybe the name leap of
faith was a mistake) but quickly realized there was no way she could
catch it.

we were watching eukanuba championship dog show today. when i mean we
i mean genie and i - she actually had her eyes on the tv screen for
about 2 minutes. and got to see rosemary's son doug, with the 13"
beagle. all in all a pleasant afternoon.

Johanna, where abouts in Australia do you live? There are a number of us
Aussies on the list. I have several weimaraners and do conformation,
obedience and tracking.

One of my roommate's border collies watches TV.  Initially, it was just when she was watching agility tapes, then it moved to anything with a dog in it, then anything with an animal in it.  We were watching Evita and he was lying on the floor, staring at the screen, and whenever horses came on he'd get up and go peer at the screen even more closely.

Strange little dog!

Hi Marg!

We're near Euroa, in Vic. Between Euroa and Shepparton actually. There are
about six houses in our little community.

Where are you?

And I guess now that I have responded to a post I should introduce myself.
Nancy Linklater, from a small town on the Canuck Side of Lake Huron - one of
the Crazy Canucks, as Heather dubs us.
I've had Weims for almost 35 years now. Began as companions, over the years
began competing, raised a few litters and
now back to companions. My dogs and I, over the years have been active in
show, obedience, ratings tests, retrieving tests,
hunt tests, agility and even tried a few field trials. Situations change and
we are back in companion mode with just one
Weim now, our Nevada, of our own breeding. She turned 7 this past week and
is spayed.
She is the apple of her Daddy's eye and the two of them get into trouble
regularly. For more info on Nevada and Dale's adventures
check out my blog at http://oncottageway.blogspot.com/
Just sift through the non-dog related stuff to find Nevada's adventures. We
are currently in Florida with the little darling and found
a fabulous dog beach. She is in heaven. Will post pics on the blog -
hopefully today sometime.
