I am using Google Groups as a support forum and google sites as a
support site.
I am trying to add the Tabbed Feed Reader gadget to show the google
groups feed on the google site home page.

When I add the RSS (or atom) feed URL to the gadget it gives me an
error:
Oops! Invalid feed URL:
feed://groups.google.com/group/snapbomb/feed/rss_v2_0_msgs.xml

Does it have to do with the fact that it is feed:// instead of http://
?

My blogger feed URL works fine.

Site: http://support.snapbomb.com
(discussion group tab)

The weird thing is: It worked when I first installed it. Now it
doesn't. Does that make any sense?

Hi,

I checked it out and there seems to be an issue with Googles feed
fetcher (Gadgets API version) and the rss version of your feed (I am
getting the same error on all the gadgets using it). I had no problem
with the Atom version though. >> http://groups.google.com/group/snapbomb/feed/atom_v1_0_msgs.xml

To clarify, you should use http as that is what the fetcher is looking
for. Also, I had no problems with your rss feed using my other
fetchers/parsers that use Googles AJAX Feed API instead and I have
been planning to switch these gadgets over to use that instead as I
personally find it more stable and reliable. (they are migrating the
Gadget API with OpenSocial)

As a check, you can test your feeds here using the load feed by url.

Hope that helps :)

Cheers!

Thanks a million for checking into this.

In the meantime I have found out that browsers seem to treat RSS feeds
differently. Safari translates RSS feeds into feed:// URLs whereas
Firefox shows them as http://

I changed the URL to http:// and it works fine now!
Thanks!
