Hello,
Does anyone have experience setting up a 301 redirect? I'm using Web
Easy 6 with FTP Max to publish/upload files. I have read several
internet articles about this process-but none of them seem appropriate
for WE 6/FTP Max. I had to rename many files while creating a new
version of my site. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
John

Hi,
A 301 redirect can't be done with WE or FTP. You can however depending
on your host/package do this on your server. You should read the help
files for your server or send an email to support for your web hosting
package to see if they have "redirects" you should go that route.
There are other ways to do this but I would not recommend it if you
are not an advanced web master. Good luck.

Thanks for your response Jammer. I ended up creating a
sinple .htaccess file in notepad and uploaded it through the host file
management
system from my web hosting company. It was remarkably easy. In
retrospect, I didn't know that I should have left my old files/pages
Iintact/instead I deleted them when I upoaded the new site design. It
probably didn't serve me to do this after all. But at least I know how
to do it. Thanks again. It's great to have helpful people out there
like you. Hopefully I can return the favor some time.
