Hi!
...Caught your show on my way home to Wynne, AR coming back from up in
Missouri. I am
Still listening glad it's not over yet! I hadn't heard Sissy Strut in a
while... not since before my husband, harmonica and sax player Mark
Sallings was killed a year ago Feb (on his way to a gig)... sad sad day
:-(
Anyway, his band the Famous Unknowns used to do a great version of that
song.
Hearing The Meters original cut on your show brought back some wonderful
memories, like when the Memphis Chapter of the Grammys did a tribute to
the Meters one year for the theme of their awards show. So much fun we
all had at the Pyramid that night!
Anyway, I wanted to know of you have any of my husbands music and if you
do, could you please play a cut? Anything off of Let It Be Known, Talkin
To Myself or Temporary Life; those were his last three CDs.
He wrote Woman Pleasin Man for me, so I always like to hear that tune
and of course any of his harp instrumentals are awesome (and I don't
think I'm being biased :-).
Mark was a super talent who had a lot of respect for Sonny Burgess...
and a lot of pride for his home, Arkansas and all of the wonderful music
that came from this area!
If you can play something by him I would be truly grateful!
Sincerely and best of blues and all that's good music!
Sandra Sallings
(widow of Mark Sallings, Famous Unknown)
Ps: I saw the Cates in Wynne last night. They were great as usual!
