Hey Trihards!

Hope your first week back wasn't too rough and a big welcome to the team for everyone the spunk of our exec board managed to convince to throw their emails down!

Here's 12 (my lucky number) reasons everyone should consider coming out to one of our two GBMs over the next two days:
4:30 PM outside the AC on Tuesday (Come dressed to run)
8:15 PM in the AC Lobby on Wednesday (Come with swim gear)

1. It's a well-known fact that we're the most attractive team at WashU.
(it's so well-accepted that being on the team is basically guaranteed to make people give you that coveted second glance)
2. Exercising is hard. It takes a lot of motivation. Hanging with friends is easy. Being on the team is literally exercising with friends.
(Text from mom: "Looking like you're going to get that freshman 15?" You: "I actually already have it 50x over" --Sends photo of dragging 5 friends along on a run--)
3. Being on the team is a chance to travel the country. Last year we had races in San Francisco, South Carolina, and Wisconsin to name a few.
(It's on the school's dollar. Got to make up for that 50k tuition some way, am I right?)
4. You inspire awe in others. No joke, when I tell people what sport I do for fun they usually say something along the lines of "Dayyyyuuuummmm"
(It's nowhere near as hard as it sounds. I trained from not being able to run a 5k to completing a half-ironman in basically a year)
5. Few other clubs offer the flexibility that triathlon does. You can practice anywhere from once every other week to every day.
(We'll help you come up with a training plan based on your free time whether your goal is run a mile and swim a lap or complete an Ironman)
6. We're a really, really fun group of people. Most practices have some sort of game at some point throughout them and you'll be laughing all the way through with your teammates.
(Classic example: Showing up the water polo teams in a game of beaver/sharks and minnows #werethebetterswimmers)
7. We low-key have our own language. What the heck is a BRICK? Would hydroyoga be fun? What does it mean to be called a slack bag?
(Our VP last year, J. Comer officially earned the title of Slackasaurus Rex at one point, what even is that?)
8. No gymtimidation. #stolenfromplanetfitness #sorrynotsorry We have people anywhere from learning how to ride a bike to multiple-time Ironmen. Our team is a judgment free zone and extremely supportive no matter where you are in your training.
(Unless you're VP or President, in which case being called Slackasaurus or being called out for being lazy is totally fair game, in fact, we appreciate it! We need to be called out when we're not putting in the effort!)
9. Party. Party. Party. Party. Being on a club sport, Tri in particular means a party is very likely to be coming your way in the near future.
(Plus, since we're the most attractive team people are always dying to mix with us)
10. Team dinners, movie nights, random adventures.
(nothing is more fun than enjoying dinner with the team after a hard workout, watching movies on my 100 inch projector, or randomly deciding to go for John Donut's after a late night swim practice)
11. Networking and potential career benefits.
(In my last three interviews, I've  been asked specifically about my triathlon training because everyone knows how much dedication and drive it takes to to really stay with the sport. Plus, we have recent alumni at top consulting firms, at elite medschools (Swim coach Jess is actually on the team and in an elite medschool, ours!), running their own startups, and even working for WashU!)
12. Other campus involvement.
(Members of our team are involved in just about everything else on campus from other sports Greek Life to Student Government to Professional Frats to Honor Societies to RA, so being on our team is a great way to get your foot in the door with all these other groups as well!)

Hope that list helped lessen any concerns you might have about not being physically fit enough for the team, not having enough free time, or thinking that we're a scary group of people who do nothing, but work out!

We'll be talking about our practice and race schedules and a whole lot more at our GBMs on Tuesday @ 4:30 PM outside the AC and Wednesday @ 8:15 PM in the AC lobby so we hope to see you at one, if not both of them!

Returning members: Would love to see you at the GBM part of the practices as well!

Later trigators,
President Kramer
