216th Street Public Consultation

Dear Mr. Zwagg:

I noticed that in the Engineering report 5260-26-016 received by Council at its September 26^th meeting public consultation regarding the design for the "road dieting" of the portion  of 216^th Street north of 88^th Avenue was to begin in November of 2023.  Do you have an update for when the general public and residents will be able to provide further input to the process?  I assume that the 2021 survey that was done on the three "dieting" options was preliminary and I would like to be able to update some of my neighbours on how things are progressing and when they can make their views known.

Good afternoon Christine Burdeniuk,

Thank you for your e-mail. Due to an unanticipated issue, the public consultation phase is now scheduled to commence in early 2024. Staff are meeting with the consultant tomorrow to kick-start this initiative and start preparing the necessary materials for the public engagement. The focus of the consultation will likely revolve receiving input on Option 3 which was the option previous preferred by the public in 2021. However, there will be opportunity for the public to provide their views on this and other options. All public input received will be presented to Council.

Please let me know if you require any additional information at this time. I have copied Paul Cordeiro, Manager of Transportation Engineering who is leading this initiative, who can provide additional information once the public consultation process officially starts.
