Dear Neighbours:
Below are two items of note for our neighbourhood:
-
The April 29th Township of Langley Council Meeting will be addressing the following report (Item Agenda
E -10, page 5):
10. Capital Request - Telegraph Trail Corridor Traffic Calming Report 24-93 File ENG 5460-04 That Council authorize $103,600 from the Capital Projects Reserve to implement proposed traffic calming measures along the Telegraph Trail corridor. That Council
direct staff to forgo the community ballot and public consultation process in the Township Neighbourhood Traffic Policy and proceed directly to construction.
You can find the full report at pages 187 - 194 of the Agenda Package. The highlights of the report include
a) Additional speed bumps will be installed along Telegraph Trail between 208th Street and 16th Street and also along 86A Crescent; and
b) A few curb extensions will be installed for pedestrians.
The report notes that these plans are in response to the recent motor vehicle collision between a pedestrian (a child) and a vehicle along Telegraph Trail in the Forest Hill area.
2. A purpose-built Childcare Centre is being proposed for Topham Park. The plan is for the 49 space centre to be located near the community garden. It should not impact the trail system nor require any trees to be removed and will address the much
needed childcare amenities.
(One thing that members of the community could suggest to the Township is that the road dieting plan for 216th Street be finalized
before the childcare centre is constructed.)
Sincerely,
Christine
