Dear Neighbours:

I hope everyone is having a great summer.  It is good to have a bit of a break from the heat.   FYI

      1.  Council Agenda Item:

The following was addressed at the July 15th  Township of Langley Council meeting:

E - 10. 216 Street Complete Street Project Update Report 24-157 File ENG 5330-23-162

The realignment of 216th and 96th Avenue is to be treated separately from the rest of the complete street project.

Council is to receive a presentation from staff on the complete street project in September of this year.  Some (?) of the items needed may be budgeted for in the 2026 municipal budget.

      2. Other changes:

For those of us in the Forest Hills area you will notice that some of the promised speed bumps (vertical deflection) have been installed along Telegraph Trail and 86A Avenue.  They haven't received their permanent paint job yet, so they are not quite as be visible as regular speed bumps.  Please be on the lookout for them.

That's it for now.  If anyone else notices other changes or any concerns please let us know via a message to our google group.

Sincerely,

Christine

Christine, I believe the reference in section 2 (Forest Hills area) to 86 A Avenue should be 86A Crescent.

I believe that Translink will have an issue to the speed bumps with regards to their large busses using 216th to Telegraph Trail and then along 86A Crescent to 212th Street and finally back to 88th Avenue.  If you have not noticed, this route is simply used as a turn around to get the busses back to 88th Avenue West Bound.  Generally after the busses leave 88th Avenue and 212 th Street Eastbound they are empty.  I have tried with Translink in the past to get these big vehicles out of Forest Hills as the roads are not built for them and there are many young children in the area.  It would be much simpler for these busses to end their route at 88th and 2l2th Street, go North on 212th to Walnut Grove Drive (go left) and continue to WG Drive and 88th Avenue where they would then proceed west on 88th Avenue.  The part of this route on W G Drive is already a scheduled bus route.  Your thoughts?

Jim Fleck
