Jerry,

Can you find an appropriate example?  Age and commuter demographics are dramatically different in every example that you post.  I think you know this, which is why I'm growing increasingly tired of these persuasive arguments.  They are dishonest at this point.

Andrew

Thank you for your comments on Jerry's latest post. I know that you have often praised Jerry and his group for their excellent work regarding bicycle and pedestrian safety so your latest comments should be taken seriously.

The larger question that needs to be asked is whether or not this forum is serving any purpose at all.

It seems to me that the current pattern is that Jerry posts an article and the same two to three people high five each other, while on the other side  a few people will voice a different opinion.   Is that the extent of the forum membership? Doesn't anyone else have a view on the Canal Pointe Blvd road diet or for that matter on any other issue that might affect the community?

If this falls in deaf ears, or should I say blind eyes, I will definitely unsubscribe.

Thanks.

To all concerned,

I wanted to state that with all the subjects to be addressed from paving roads, making safer cross walks, schools and so much more we continue to stay on Bikes and a Road Diet. As far as my understanding the last post regarding an article on Newark listed several changes that won't start for several months. I would think it would be more appropriate to be read when things are all working. I am confused by all this information.

I feel there's more to address like making our train station more safe to NOT ALLOW for pedestrian fatalities yet it is overlooked and never mentioned. To me this group of devoted participants should have a set up for a Bicycle group, since so few ever contribute.

I had made a post earlier and was told to unsubscribe if I don't like it which i was considering at the timr. Can we not have other groups with more options because I am exhausted from the current subject?  Can anyone else make a comment or change the subject or is this just to be about bikes and road diets when we could certainly address more that takes place in our town! If that is indeed the only subject we aren't truly discussing West Windsor

All,

I happened to look at a copy of the U.S. 1 paper.  There is a great article on NJ taxes by town.

What struck me was the large discrepancy between the municipal spend per person in Plainsboro and West Windsor, as it nullifies the school budget argument.  West Windsor was something like 25% higher.  Can anyone shed light on where we are outspending Plainsboro and what we are getting for this investment?

I'm not looking for blame on this, just where it is going.  If no one knows, I will ask for the budgets from both towns and try to decipher.  It was pretty shocking to me.

Thanks all!

Andrew

I haven't seen the paper or looked at the numbers, but I do know that Plainsboro has a separate Fire District and private garbage pick-up; in West Windsor those services are covered by municipal taxes.

Most importantly you have West Windsor in Mercer County and Plainsboro in Middlesex County. Totally different tax tables

Plainsboro went after commercial rateables in a big way during the 80s & 90s.

If you are concerned that

More Development + Road Diet = Traffic Disaster

you should be especially interested in Hoboken's experience, *because* of the differences in population density and traffic - Hoboken has more than WW. If the above logic is correct, Hoboken should have a traffic disaster, especially since the Pulaski Skyway is operating at half capacity while it is being reconstructed.

Go back and read their actual experience, please - I honestly hope you will be persuaded.

Jerry
PS - Andrew, if you think "age and commuter demographics" are important, pls explain - I'm not familiar with the relationship between those factors and traffic.
