I just drove CPB
north to south to check out the new striping. The "road diet" striping is
done and there are hazards. People are driving through the left turn lanes
as if they were through lanes. I almost got hit as I was making a left
turn from CPB onto Carnegie Center Boulevard towards Route 1. Another car
was in the through lane northbound on CPB, waiting to turn right onto Carnegie
Center Boulevard. The car behind that one swerved over into the left turn
lane, directly facing me, and passed at about 40 mph, swerving again to avoid
me.
It's also obvious
that many people are driving at high speed over the new markings in the left
turn lanes, wearing them off quickly.
The administration
was repeatedly warned about changing long-established driving habits on
CPB. Please be careful!
