WSUiR is pleased to announce a
new partnership: The
Kodaly Music Educators of Kansas.
Our first collaboration with be
Friday evening, June 15th, 2007,
5:30 p.m., when WSUiR will
broadcast the 2007
Wichita
State University Children's Kodály Choir
Camp concert live.
The concert, held at WSU's Wiedemann Recital Hall,
features 69 singers (boys and girls aged 10-14) under the direction of
guest conductor, Elaine Quilichini, Artistic Director of the Calgary
Girls Choir. Accompanying the children will be Mr. John Wm. Cargile.
The children will be performing eight numbers, including the world
premiere of a work by Mr. Wayland Rogers of North Park University,
Chicago. The piece, an arrangement of a traditional French chanson,
Noel
c'est l'amour,
was commissioned by the Kodály Music Educators of Kansas (KMEK) and the
WSU Children's Kodály Summer Choir Camp. Mr. Rogers is this year's
featured composer-in-residence and is an alumnus of Wichita State
University.
