I am not so familiar with Simon Fischer and can only say that he appears to be a widely recognized name in violin pedagogy. So they may be a valuable opportunity. This from the OU violin prof doing the recital/masterclass Jan 29 and Jan 30.

Dear John,

I've been thinking a great deal about my visit to Wichita, because I
started working on the recital program. I will send you program notes
and bios sometime next week.

The main reason I am writing now is to let you know that Simon
Fischer is coming to OU for a three-day residency in March (14-16). I
am trying to get the word out to as many violinists as possible,
because this is a fantastic opportunity at a very low cost ($120
tuition for the entire three days, plus significant hotel discounts
in conjunction with the workshop). I saw Simon Fischer in action at
the Starling-DeLay Symposium in NYC this past summer, and I can
guarantee that those three days will become a life-changing
experience for any violinist or teacher.

Would you please tell your students and colleagues about it? Simon
Fischer will be teaching three students per day, spending about 2-2.5
hours with each, and in the evenings he'll be giving workshops on
topics such as ease of playing, tone production, intonation, vibrato,
shifting, etc. One can also attend just per day ($50) or per session
($15). I am attaching the electronic version of the flier a hard copy
of which you should be getting any day now. If you have students
who'd like to apply to play for the masterclasses, they'll need to
send a tape (see application).

Kindly,
Rossitza
