Hi everyone, Mark Peters is a graduate student at WSU giving his Piano recital this coming Thursday the 16th. His mother is sick and won't be able to come to his recital - would anyone like to set up and announce a WSUiR broadcast so she can hear it? I can give you a refresher course if you're rusty at the ol' mic... I could also help set up at 6:30 before the 7:30 concert but won't be able to stay.

Please respond to me personally if you're up for helping!

if you can't find anyone, I can do it.  I get out of class at 6:50, so I will walk over there from Jabara, and might need a "refresher," but I don't imagine i'll need the "whole course," just a reminder of everything.

P.S.  I am 21 as of a couple months ago...so I don't know if you're still attempting to broadcast local bands, but i can go to bars and do so now!  I know some guys that know a lot about sound and recording in bars/clubs, so maybe they could help us out.  Let me know.

Great, Rachel, I'll let Mark know you might be up for doing this. I could meet you there to help set up at 7 if he decides to go through with the broadcast.

Yes, we've been talking with a number of local organizations about setting up consistent (maybe weekly) live broadcasts, so if there's any venue you're already interested in working with, let me know and we'll talk out the details. I'm going to make a strong push for this as soon as school is out (end of May for USD 259). I've been intending to foster a relationship with the Artichoke for years now... maybe that would be a fun venue for you? There's such great music there and it's definitely a unique local venue.

I actually know one of the bands that plays at the Artichoke, so yes, that would be cool, and I do like it there. I used to play with a couple of the players in the band.  After the semester is over would work great.  I have so many tests, papers, and a research proposal to do in the next two weeks...I am just going crazy.  I am graduating this August.  I am taking a research class and a math course online over the summer, but I am basically "walking" in May.  I'll still work with you guys though ;-)

Later,

Rachel

Hey guys -

I'm looking for info on the CRATEL projects being developed this semester.  Is this the best group?

Thanks
Matt

Your best bet for that sort of information is to join the cratel-
builders group:

http://groups.google.com/group/cratel-builders

Just quickly, though:
- WSUiR will likely go though a "rebirth," and we're looking to
orchestrate that over the summer. If anybody wants to know more or get
involved with that, just holler. We'd like to look at all new
programming, more community involvement and coverage, and new
streaming formats.

- College of Engineering is offering 5-6 summer camps for middle
school and high-schoolers. I'll be teaching 3 HS ones CRATEL-style,
which mean's it will be very exploratory, learner-centered, and hands-
on. We are looking for mentors for all the camps so if you want to get
involved in CRATEL projects and get paid $10/hour to do it, you might
want to apply to be a mentor. Here's all the info and links to the
application:
http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=engineeringcamps&p=/index

- We might bring back Build Day if there is enough interest:
