Great fun tonight with 12 boats starting. I stopped by Chris Brown’s beautiful Balance catamaran that was moored in the starting area to say hi….with 2:16 left on the starting clock. Missed getting a good start and played catch up for the rest of the race.

It really was a tough fun night on the water, and great to see 12 boats on the starting line!

Winds built up throughout the race and had my fun.

The Expletive: messed up both our clocks, so we get the time of the boat behind: Bovine.  We were much closer to Skinny Sheila in front of us.

233 DNF after broken traveller car.  It was a great night nonetheless.  Kept the mast pointed up!

We decided it was so nice out we would get in some capsize practice.  Fun night on the river.

Predictable Urge DNF

Let’s say you help a guy with a little repair job. Then the guy complains about the work you did and how the work was done. What would you do in this situation?
Well, that is exactly what happened. I helped Leith install a tube in a beach wheel yesterday. We discussed the problem a while back. I told him that I have a tool that would help. Yesterday I brought the tool. I must confess, the tool is a homemade contraption that we used to break the bead of the tire on the wheel. The tool looks like something Chris Bolton would be proud of. The tool is not from a store specifically made for the job. We struggled to break the bead. Partially because the tool is hillbilly and partially because the bead has been stuck on the wheel for decades. We struggled but we got the job done. The tube is in the tire. The tire holds air. To my face Leith said , “Thanks.”
However, behind my back and at the restaurant, I overheard Leith tell a different story.  He told a bunch o guys that I butchered the job and the tool I made was inadequate. He said that the job took too long and the end result was pitiful.  Then things turned personal. He called me incompetent, hack and clown. He knew that I was right behind him. He intentionally talked loud enough for me to overhear the conversation. Fortunately, my ego is large enough that his words barely scratched my self esteem.
