Selling A2 A-Cat

Hey All,

Nice night even though we didn't get out on the water!

I'm buying Ben Halls DNA F1 after worlds. I'm selling my A2 with dolly, but keeping the trailer. Would love to keep it in the club if possible.  $2500obo 

You all know the boat, but happy to provide details / pictures to anyone you know might be interested.

Hi, Steve. What do you think about weight the boat can carry as is? I am sort of slowly looking for an inexpensive a-cat, however I feel like I am too heavy (215 lbs naked) for this one. Thoughts?

Vlad,

  Chiming in for Steve. First, his boat is a great intro to the class. Unfortunately, 215lbs is on the upper edge for classic A-Cat sailing. Mischa Heemskerk makes it work at 225lbs or so but he is a pro and tends to do better at windy venues, and on foiling boats which do a better job translating righting moment to speed.

 I think Steve's boat is great for anyone under 185lbs or so. For an intro boat, the Marstrom A-Cat is really what you want. For a more competitive ride, the 2012-2015 DNA's like Connie and Phil have are pretty ideal for the bigger guys , until you get into the new boats like the DNA Classic circa 2019 (I believe you can still buy this hull new).

Thank you Sam! That’s what I have thought too. 

I have lusted for Marstrom 30 years ago:). What hot model did they have back then? Waterrat, I believe.

I think a LR 5 works for big guys too; it’s pretty fat. I know someone who is selling one of those…
