I also took a picture from my dock.

FYI: Watch carefully. This is a video. It could be mistaken for a still shot.

The race was shortened at the first mark..no one  protested…16:48 was A Gentleman’s Agreement time. Boat speed max: 4.1kts. Average upwind boat speed: 1.8kts.

Skinny Sheila 18:32

Maximum boat speed was 5.4kts, probably when I slipped at the bottom of the ramp as I was putting the boat in the water.

Atomic Bumblebee 37:19, average speed 1.2, max 2.9 :)
Good thing that we had enough daylight after the race to fit the jib and install all the hardware. So, next time Tommy is coming we will be able to sail two-up configuration.
Thank you RC for running this grueling race and making wise decision of shortening course to prevent our self destruction.
Vlad.

The Expletive: 20:25

In the 25 years I have been racing with the WRCRA, I think last night was the shortest distance race we ever did.

I am happy that all 5/6 boats were able to finish it.

Another first for me was a virtual grounding.  We didn't get stuck in the mud but in the weeds.   I have never seen the sea grass grow nearly as high and widespread here.  It was over 3 feet high in a widespread area.  We had to put up both rudders and boards and sail out steering by only the sails.

No two races ever look the same, but more so yesterday.

Thanks for the warm welcome on my first race out with everyone. I enjoyed the race, even with the light air. Sorry to bail early on the post race drinks, but work called.

Predictable Urge 20:57
Constantine is a chatterbox. He is a great guy and we love him. But oh my gosh, he can go on and on. When we were rigging Constantine went around and told anyone who would listen, “I am retired now. I am here sailing on Tuesday because I am retired. I could not sail on Tuesday when I was working. But now I am retired.” I felt like my head would explode if I heard the word, “retired” again. I launched a little bit early just to get some peace and quiet.
We sailed in light wind. Very light wind.
At the restaurant, Constantine started up again. This time he explained that he was retired and his wife Gretchen is still working. I was able to add something to the conversation when there was a one second gap in the flow of words. In the spirit of camaraderie, I said that I am retired and my wife Lynn is still working. Mary had something to say about all of this. But I didn’t catch it. All I heard was buzz buzz buzz.
Later Topsy Turvy Phil said that he has a 34 foot sailboat that he keeps in a slip at Hartge’s. He said that it is in immaculate condition and that he would like to show it off to us. He said that one of these Tuesdays we should get some beer and bourbon and go hang out at his boat and get hammered. I told him that we already do that with Colin and Fan’s boat when they are not around. But we would like to see his boat too.
