Tiller extension joint removal

Stupid question. How do I get off the broken tiller Extension joint? It’s got that metal tube through it.  I spent 30 seconds on it then figured I’d just email.

That’s a roll pin.  I recommend that you use a hammer and a drift pin of the same diameter as the pin.

Set it on the edge of something sturdy like a 4x4 with the pin just off the edge and tap it out with the hammer.  It shouldn’t be very difficult.  If you don’t have a drift pin, you can try using a machine screw instead. Again, just make sure it’s no bigger in diameter than the pin.

I ended up taking the crazy Texan’s advice and cutting off the end and using small screws on the joint instead of roll pin. Maybe that wasn’t advice, we’ll never know.

Sometimes it better to say screw it rather than roll with it.
