Additional awards:
1. The Most Improved Senior Award is given to that senior, not ranked
within the top 40, who most improved his or her score between the
previous year and the current year. The winner is MacKenzie Devlin of
Bromfield, with a score increase of 11 points. (Runners up were
Rachel Jackson of Tantasqua, with an increase of 10 points, and Dan
Buffum of Shepherd Hill, with an increase of 7.)
2. The Most Improved Junior Award is given to that junior, not ranked
within the top 40, who most improved his or her score between the
previous year and the current year. The winner is Ian Meeker of St.
John's, with a score increase of 16 points. (Runners up were Adam
Twarog of Auburn, with an increase of 13 points, and Kirby Tam of
Hopedale, with an increase of 11.)
3. The Most Improved Team Award is given to that school which most
improved its team raw score between the previous year and the current
year. The winner is Nashoba Regional High School, with a score
increase of 69 points. (Runners up were St. John's High School, with
an increase of 37 points, and Tahanto Regional High School, with an
increase of 34 points.)
4. The John Phelan Award of $100 is given to the student who ranks
first in individual varsity competition. The winner is Steven Tang of
Nashoba. Runners up were Moungjin (Steve) Kang of Worcester Academy,
Young Hyun (Annie) Kim of Worcester Academy, and Dhroova Aiylam of St.
John's. (For the first time ever, the first place rank was decided by
a tiebreaker; the tiebreaker differential between Tang and Kang was
about one quarter of one point.)
5. The Tom Severance Award of $100 is given to the top scoring senior
in individual varsity competition. The winner is Qingyang (Tom) Xi of
Worcester Academy. Runners up were Ofir Nachum of Algonquin, Chester
(Chase) Caswell of Worcester Academy, and Anthony Liu of Westborough.

SMALL SCHOOLS: Worcester Academy, AMSA Charter, Bromfield, Holy Name,
Tahanto, Hopedale
This year's state championship math meet will be held on Friday, April
9, at Shrewsbury High School.
