This is a notice of exciting employment opportunity for an Airport Development Specialist (Transportation Specialist - Adv) vacancy (schedule/range 14-13) located at the Department of Transportation, the headquarters for this position will be the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI.

 

In this position, you will serve as a project management specialist for airport improvement projects assigned to the General Aviation Section. The General Aviation Section is responsible for delivering over $100 million of safety critical airport projects annually. You will work directly with local officials, the Federal Aviation Administration, and other state, local, and federal agencies on sensitive and complex issues with broad authority to establish project parameters. 

 

Salary Info.

 

This position is in schedule-range (14-13) with an annual salary of $68,640-$91,520, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

 

Qualifications:

 

Qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Experience providing plan and specification reviews of engineering bid documents
  • Experience in planning, design, and construction phases of projects. Experience may include drafting engineering documents, documenting project issues, and enforcing contract specifications.
  • Experience managing a business program, project, or workflow. Activities may include planning and executing work activities, coordinating with internal and external project/program business partners, meeting deadlines, and assisting in training.

 

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience performing field work activities associated with roadways, structures, or airports. Experience may include daily diary record keeping, quantity calculations, and inspections for acceptance. 
  • Experience managing, coordinating, and implementing a program or project. Experience may include estimating, budgeting, and task assignment to project team members, drafting contract documents, supporting team leads with independent task completion, and coordination with key internal/external business partners
  • Experience communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
