Phil and Donna from Fancy Farms recommended an insecticidal soap for aphids.  Said the aphids were waxy- that keeps the Diatomaceous Earth from killing them. Mt Hardware has an organic one.

I tried another type of organic pest control today on my Chard that I had already cut back to a few leaves.  Will check tomorrow.

I also called the owners of aphid infested chard who haven't decided about Fall gardening. Got permission to take it down to the nubs.  Anyone still have out of control beetles? They ate all my Kale!!!  I  collected and killed a bunch, cut down the Kale.  So far Kale is regrowing, beetles are currently very low in numbers.

I planted today but don't want to cover until insects are controlled.  They will love the green house effect!!!

Last year people who were not continuing had to be checked out for the Fall.  Is that  happening this year?

(secret combo 6072) shhhhhh

Uh oh, I planted new seedlings a few weeks ago - lettuces and kohlrabi.  Are they in danger?

I cut my chard down to nubs. Some new leaves came up, and aphids are on them. i think I'll cut them down again, and wait to plant until after a good frost.
