Minimum Technical Qualifications
• HTML, XHTML, and CSS – Candidate must be able to hand-code to
standards without error. Candidate also must possess a deep understanding of
keeping code, content, and presentation separated.
• Object-oriented JavaScript Programming – Candidate’s experience must
include class creation, object instantiation and inheritance. Candidate should
also have extensive experience with JavaScript frameworks, preferably YUI or
Ext JS.
•The interview
process will involve many detailed questions to determine a candidate’s skill
level with JavaScript. If the candidate does not feel comfortable
speaking about their experiences and knowledge of building complex and robust
user interfaces using JavaScript for an hour, they may not be the right
candidate for this position.
• Cross-Browser Support – Candidate must have experience building
web applications that support an array of web browsers (Internet Explorer 6, 7
& 8; Firefox; Chrome; Safari)
• Web Accessibility – Candidate must have thorough knowledge of building
web applications that meet Accessibility standards. Experience with WCAG 2.0
and Section 508 are a requirement. Knowledge of WAI ARIA is a plus.
• Java Server Pages* – Candidate must have experience developing dynamic
web applications in a JSP environment. Candidate must understand the best
practices that allow for a clean separation of presentation layer markup and
style from the business logic of an application.
• Experience
building custom tag libraries is a plus.
• Candidate does not need to be a Java developer
Required Skills
• Strong communication – A large part of the candidate’s role will be to
effectively communicate the importance of standards and best practices to both
technical (web application development teams) and non-technical (project
management) audiences.
• Strong teamwork – The candidate will be expected to contribute to frameworks
and code libraries that we use to standardize our code deliverables. As such
the candidate must be able to work closely with other contributors to ensure
that their code contributions meet team standards.
