Hi
I have been in the market for a larger bike than the one I have (250),
and have found the most beatiful bike in the world, a 2006 Drifter. I
can't find much info on reliability, parts availability, etc. I have
a feeling you guys can help. I need something for travel as well as
in town commute to work. I want reliability and the ability to get
parts, if needed, in a timely manner. How long does motorcycle dealers
have to supply parts after a model goes out of production?
Please help, I want to pick it up by the end of the week!! My other
option is a honda shadow aero, not near as cool.

Thanks

Chief

First, go to the Vulcan Drifter Riders web site. There is a lot of
info there, including info on other forums etc.

http://www.VulcanDrifterRiders.com

1) reliability - The bike started in 1999 and has very few problems -
1 recall (doesn't impact you). It is a VERY reliable bike.

2) Its a Vulcan... so most mechanical parts are available online and
from the dealer - and will be available for a very long time. Drifter
shares parts with Nomad and Classic.

ACCESSORIES - not a bunch of Drifter specific - but most of what you
need... and we Drifter Riders are very resourceful. (See the VDR site
for listings etc.)

Welcome and you will love this bike.

Chief.

yes. it is a VERY reliability bike. i used it as daily commute when it is not raining in the sunny socal which means most of the time. and haven't had much problem with it and the maintenance cost is also reasonable.

rebelcat,
Have you found a 2006 Drifter?
My 06 will be up for sale in the Spring.
It's a two tone black and silver with new Roadhouse pipes
and Willie and Max bags.
Very clean and less than 2500 miles.
I don't need two bikes. Have a Nomad for touring and will
just ride that this year.

Best,

Ken
