Hello john,

Go to the website and look in the mods/tips section under exhausts... there is a mod for the exhaust to give you more sound. Some like it some don't.

I have a 1999 Drifter 1500 and would like your oppinion on which pipe set would have the closest sound to the original Indian Cheif?

Tell me what you think.

Thanks.

Hello Tom,

The original was a two-into-one, so likely one that looks like that with some baffling. Cobra had a replica of the original, so you might have a look on ebay occasionally to find one that looks the same. BUT, remember the engines are very different. So the Drifter will NEVER sound just like an original Indian.

Cheers.

My 99 1500 has a set of Vance and Hines "Longshots" and a Power Commander tuner module.  The sound is loud enough and awsome, BUT like CHEIF said below...the sound will almost never duplicate the Indian.  Original stuff on mass produced motorcycles seldom were "built" to rattle loudly, mostly cuz uncle sam did'nt think it was appropriate.  the rumble most always comes from experimentation or thought-out exhaust mods.  Now is a good time to get some modifications done cuz gearheads are desperate for you$$$.  negotiate a set of pipes and tuner for your cheapest "tones".  do your homework............

later on.......I'm ridin on!

since these are true dual exhaust, many of the performance geeks will tell you that a 2 into 1 pipe is a better choice cuz it equalizes the backpressure from both cylinders.  I am happy with mine and the sound is much louder and pronounced than a 2 into 1.  Now is a good time to get some modifications done cuz gearheads are desperate for you$$$.  negotiate a set of pipes and tuner for your cheapest "tones".  do your homework & determine if you want speed/acceleration vs. raw sound.  The right balance is out there young padoan.......may the force be with you........

later on.......I'm ridin on!

I'm more than a bit biased, but I like Roadhouse.  I have the Dooleys and I think they're the best combination of  rumble and looks without sounding blatty, tinny or cheap.

I also have a 99 1500 and has a set of Roadhouse Duals and a Power Commander tuner module.
I get comments wherever I go about how great they sound and look. I am glad I got them,
