electrical problem?

Fellow Drifter and Vulcan Riders,

I have a 1999 1500 Drifter that recently simply stopped running.  The starting switch triggers a complete shut down of the electrical connection.  Lights and dash go immediately black after attempting start from the normal "power on" key position.  Then, a funny thing happens?  The power will come back on after a minute or two?  I have left the power switch on and tried to figure out why the "blackout" occured, and then the power will come back on?

 

I checked all the replaceable quick plug fuses under the seat, and they are all good to go?  What is the diagnosis here?  Any input is appreciated concerning relays and checking the connections advice!  Heck, anything, I just don't know where to start?

Hello Robert,

Check the battery connections - remove, clean, reinstall. 

Check the battery -  make sure you have a good battery... replace with a known good one if possible. 

Let's start there.
