changing handle bars

I posted this question in the yahoo forum but got no response so I
thought I'd try you guys.

Hello all and happy new years!
Anyone out there switched the handle bars on your Drifter??? I am
thinking about going to some "beach bars" on my 2000 1500. The bike
is
in storage right now so I can't do any measuring. Does anyone know
the
handle bar diameter (what size bar should I buy)? Also, how much
extra
length is there on the control cables? Will I have to extend the
control cables? Is there a kit for that? Overall, is it a huge pain
in the a$$ to switch handle bars? Any advise would be greatly
appreciated.

Hello Mr.,

We use 1" bars. Depending upon the bar you may or may not need to change cables.
