SAN JOSE, Calif. -- It's no surprise that everywhere you look these
days, you see and hear a cell phone.

What may be a surprise is that cell phones, which we use as much as our
computers, are starting to develop a very computer-like problem, KNTV
in San Jose reported.

"As the population of these devices grows, it's going to be a more
attractive target to the virus writers," said Todd Theimann of Trend
Micro.

High-tech virus fighters say they're seeing viruses targeted at
so-called smart phones -- the ones with Microsoft and Symbian software
on them. Smart phones are the ones that store your data and play your
music. They're also susceptible to viruses.

"The threat to these smart phones is going to be on par to what's
hitting PCs today," Theimann said.

So, Cupertino, Calif., virus-fighter Trend Micro is working to protect
your phone. Its new software called Mobile Security will act as armor
to keep your cell safe from outside attacks.

You can download the protection from the Internet for free through June
from Trend Micro.
