education, but the reality is otherwise. As we have sen this year,
Viqarunnisa Noon School was placed on top position in the SSC
examination 2005 in terms of the number of students obtaining the
highest grade as 464 candidates from the institution secured GPA-5. The
Ideal School and College had the second position with 452 students
having obtained GPA-5 while Motijheel Model High School in 3rd position
(GPA-5: 180). Monipur High School was in the 4th position (GPA-5-179),
RAJUK Uttara Model School and College 5th position (GPA-5-156),
Government Laboratory High School 6th position (GPA-5-148), Motijheel
Gov. Boys' High School 7th position (GPA-5-136), Dhaka Residential
Model College 8th position (GPA-5-131), Dhanmondi Government Boys' High
School 9th position (GPA-5-123) and Holy Cross Girls High School 10th
position (GPA-5-109).
A total of 784 students appeared at the examination from Viqarunnisa
Noon School and 773 came out successful-the school's pass percentage
being 98.60.
Let us have a further look at the picture. A total of 837 students
appeared from Ideal School and 837 passed (pass percentage 99.28); 1097
students appeared from Motijheel Model High School and passed 1007
(91.80 per cent); 518 students from Monipur High School and passed
515(99.42 per cent), 196 appeared from RAJUK Uttara Model School and
College and all passed; 319 appeared from Government Laboratory High
School and 300 passed (94.04 per cent), 297 from Motijheel Government
Boys High School and passed 291 (97.98 per cent), 257 appeared from
Dhaka Residential Model College and passed 253 (98.44 per cent), 268
appeared from Dhanmondi Govt. Boys High School and passed 266 (99.25
per cent) and 204 students from Holy Cross Girls High School and all
passed.
We hope the authorities should do something positive regarding this.
