First, my apologies for sending this out so late. 

Piney River- AT- Thorton River-Hull School Loop

Time:  8:00 AM

Location:  38° 42' 5.69" N, 78° 15' 59.77" W,  Piney Branch Trailhead

Distance:  Approximately 16.7 miles

Ascent/Descent:  3,400 feet +/-

Route:

• Starting At Piney Branch Trailhead. Begin up Piney Branch Trail to the Hull School Trail.  Turn Left.
• Hike Hull School Trail to the Thorton River Upper Trail. Turn Right.
• Take the Thorton River Trail to the AT.  Turn Right.
• Follow the AT north to the Sugarloaf Trail.  Turn Right
• Continue on the Sugarloaf Trail to the Pole Link Bridge Trail.  Turn Right.
• At the intersection  with Piney Branch Trail, Turn left.
• Descend the Piney Branch Tail back to the parking lot

Carpool: Hikers wishing to carpool should meet at the Centreville Park and Ride off I-66, exit 52, Centreville. Arrive early enough so that drivers can depart the lot no later than 6:30 AM.  Go west on Rt 29 taking the 2nd right into the park and ride lot, then immediately turn left to the corner of the lot where our group gathers.  (See: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/riders/stone-road).
