This hike will be on mountain biking trails just north of Baltimore, with great winter views of the most southern area of the reservoir and dam hiking trails in this wildlife management area. The trails are generally unnamed so we will stick together (they are on alltrails) - the last 3 or so mile section is pretty straightforward to follow back to the parking on alltrails if you want to go ahead then.
We will be in the southern area of this map, on the white mountain biking trails shown here and other trails.
https://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/sites/default/files/Designated%20Biking%20Routes_0.pdfi hope there will not be too much Baltimore traffic getting there given the holiday week and should be great weather! No portapotties on this hike
Plan for 15 miles and approx 1500 feet of elevation.
Take the Baltimore Beltway, I-695 to the Dulaney Valley Road exit. Head north on Dulaney Valley Road approximately 1 mile. Turn left at the light onto Seminary Avenue and park on either side of the road. For googlemaps can use address 1400 Dulaney Valley Road which is the Mormon church at this corner. 39.424755, -76.597566
Carpool from Carderock lot. Start from the first parking lot at Carderock Recreation Area (38.9723,-77.1996). Exit the beltway for Clara Barton Parkway West (towards Potomac), in less than a mile exit and follow signs into Carderock Rec Area (for the first parking area turn right and then an immediate left).
Please let me know if you will meet at carpool (Carderock) or at the trailhead
