Project path length

I have been informed by my supplier that the maximum project path
length is 255 characters. I would like to know:

1) - Is this operating system specific (we are using Windows Server
2003 Standard Edition)?

2) - Is there a patch / fix to allow longer project path lengths?

3) - Are there any recommendation for use of projects in Vignette?

Any comments you may have would be really useful.

This is due to column width of project table in VCM.
