Hey everyone - just a quick update, for those who haven't heard.  The VFC unanimously approved my proposal (you can find it on the VFC website), and are in full swing now!  We will take it one step at a time, incorporating more as we go, as all parties are interested!  Thanks for all of the support from folks on this list! ~S

Vancouver Food Co-op
Now supporting
A new weekly local food delivery system!

This past Monday at the board meeting, the Vancouver Food Co-op unanimously voted to support a local farm delivery system that is already well established and wanting to serve the Co-op through their efforts. (Thank you DeeCreek!)

Just three days after being approved, and before it was even official, 3 VFC owners showed up to volunteer for a very busy Thursday evening of food sharing.  More than 35 families picked up fresh foods, including:

Apricots, aged feta cheese, pastured eggs, CSA produce boxes, pastured chicken, pork, lacto-fermented vegetables, handmade soap, raw honey, dried herbs, and fresh organic breads.  ALL produced here in our region – except the apricots, which were from Yakima.

This is just the beginning of what will be available in the coming season during these farm deliveries.  As the season changes, so do the offerings of local foods.  In order to stay updated weekly, be sure to subscribe to the "vfc_buyersclub" Google group (http://groups.google.com/group/vfc-buyersclub/about). We will be posting information on how to be a part of these deliveries, as well as other options for finding fresh foods nearby - so that you, too, can get more quality foods on a regular basis!

We are very excited to announce this joining of efforts, and are pleased to offer this resource to folks in West Vancouver, Salmon Creek, and soon East Vancouver.  This is a great place to find common ground, to energize, to share, and feed families wholesomely!

You will see VFC volunteers at these deliveries, where you can also volunteer, and help in various ways: stocking, unloading, receipt-writing, sharing information, etc... Your service is invaluable, and it is efforts like these that build a stronger foundation for a co-op that will thrive!

While the best way to get information about the VFC "buy local" delivery market is to join the VFC Buying Local Google group, information about all of our efforts will also be made available on our new website.
