Maternity Care Crisis in Philadelphia!
Tuesday June 12, 2007 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Rotunda at the
State Capitol Building in Harrisburg.
Sen. Washington has spearheaded this rally in response to Chestnut
Hill OB threatening to close. Even though Chestnut Hill has made the
decision to keep their OB Department open, the crisis is not over. So
many hospitals have already closed due to lack of reimbursement from
insurance and the rising cost of malpractice insurance. The maternity
system has become strained and access to care is limited. The
hospitals that have remained open cannot handle the increased volume.
We would like to raise awarness to the public and elected officials as
well as impact reform.
We are hoping for as many moms, babies and families as well as
practitioners to participate to draw attention to the OB crisis in
Philadelphia. Please send a note to anyone you know that would be
interested. We need everyone that is concerned about birthing options
in our area to attend!
