Sorry folks -- there are many last minute changes.
DON"T GO TO THE STATEHOUSE TOMORROW, FRIDAY, APRIL 9!
1) the vote on the Decommissioning Bill was moved to Tuesday
2) the Decommissioning Bill has gotten so watered down that organizations of the Safe Power VT Coalition (VYDA is a member) are no longer supporting the bill.
For some information about what is going on, go to:
Notice the change in dates of when Entergy is expected to have funds for decommissioning. The funding stipulation is so watered down that even Gov. Douglas and O'Brien are willing to pass the bill. For one thing, the date was changed from 2012 to 2032.
SO -- I will send an update in the next day or so when I get more information.
In the meantime --
We want to work on the VT Senate to write a stronger decommissioning bill and pass it in the next few weeks.
SO -- Please call your Senator and ask them to require Entergy to have a fullyfunded decommissioning fund by 2012 when ENVY closes. Entergy should have to operate on a level playing field like other energy generators that have to have fully funded decommissioning funds at the front end.
CALL the Sergeant at Arms to leave a message for your Senator to support stronger language in their version of the bill.
