Race to Replace Vermont Yankee
Bike Ride and Clean Energy Rally for 100% Clean Electricity for Vermont

Friday, April 30th, 2010
12:00pm - Montpelier Statehouse Rally
1:00pm - Bike Ride from Montpelier to Burlington
5:30pm - Burlington Clean Energy Celebration, Battery Park (Pearl St. & Battery
St.)

As the legislative session in Montpelier draws to a close, clean energy
advocates are mobilizing to ensure that Vermont's energy future is sustainable
and affordable! By overwhelmingly voting to shut down Vermont Yankee on time in
2012, our legislators have pointed the state in a new direction. It's up to
committed clean energy advocates to guarantee that our next governor ensures
that Vermont Yankee is shut down and then replaced with power from clean
electricity sources in Vermont.

Come join students and clean energy advocates from across Vermont as we push
our elected officials and candidates for governor to replace Vermont Yankee
with clean, renewable sources of power. Let's create a clean energy economy in
Vermont that will bring hundreds of clean tech jobs, provide new opportunities
for young Vermonters, and get our state 100% clean energy by 2020. We'll start
the day at the State House in Montpelier with a rally featuring speeches from
gubernatorial candidates, youth leaders, and representatives from 350.org.
Then, we'll ride forty miles to Burlington, spreading the message of clean
energy to voters statewide. We'll end with a rally at Battery Park in
Burlington to celebrate our vision for a clean energy future and begin
registering clean energy voters demanding a new direction for Vermont!
