Hi All,

I have installed and configured Nagios Server 3.0.6 on RHEL 5 OS. I am able to monitor almost all services of Linux as well as Windows Server however there is no provision to monitor NFS Service through NRPE Plugin.

Can you please suggest me a solution to monitor NFS Service through NRPE plugin in Nagios ??

Ajay,

One option is to create a dummy file & a script which will be checking the file and if condition where file doesn't exist it should give you error.

Where in nagios plugin will see if it's a error it will show status of nfs mounts.

I think this might help you out if I have understood your question.

You can also use opennms which can send an mail alert for different
types of services not only NFS. It tries to identify the services on
client and workstations also. Inferno Solutions has deployed network
management systems for lot of precious clients in the market and they
like it more than nagios.

Thanks,
Alok

Hi Chintan,

Inferno Solutions network management system identifies all the nodes
in your network all the machines including individual service polling,
scanning, alert mechanism, mail-client, outages and all network
services running on all the machines like dns on some
machine, mailserver on another ip,ftp on another etc. Network
management systems are used in big and SMB environments and is a great
tool for network monitoring and management.

If any services on nodes get down or any machine gets down it would
directly send an alert mail to administrator too.

We also offer various other solutions on linux, java please feel free
to check our website and also feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Alok

Hi Alok,

Thanks for your suggestions but I have already deployed Nagios for almost all the services except NFS. Let me know in case you have any idea for the same.

Ajay,

Can you try by creating a dummy file & script which was told to you earlier.
