zimbra backup issue

Dear All,

Hope all are doing well. Now i face a issue about zimbra mail backup server. i have originally 11GB size of /opt/zimbra but when i backup zimbra server using rsync script then backup taken successfully but backup size shows 89GB.

When i check why this happen then i found a result as mention below:

[zimbra@mail ~]$ ls -lah  /opt/zimbra/data/ldap/mdb/db/data.mdb
-rw------- 1 zimbra zimbra 80G Feb  5 17:53 /opt/zimbra/data/ldap/mdb/db/data.mdb

as per command result data.mdb size have 80gb but origanally that file have 7.8M as per du -sh command.
 
i have also doing workout on google but not found solutions.

Hi

That depends how you take backup.

Rsync have an option to take care it.

I check the man page of rsync and found.

 -O, --omit-dir-times        omit directories from --times
            --super                 receiver attempts super-user activities
            --fake-super            store/recover privileged attrs using xattrs
        -S, --sparse                handle sparse files efficiently <======================
        -n, --dry-run               perform a trial run with no changes made
