Dear students,
For three years in a row now I have been organising short trips to Finnish universities for VDU IF and EVF students - Tampere 2012, 2013 (Tampere University of Technology), and Helsinki 2013 (Aalto university).
This year I am calling for student willing to visit Turku (Turku university and Turku University of Applied Sciences) during 01.31-02.03 or 02.07-10.
AFTER READING THE TEXT BELOW, IF YOU CHOOSE TO GO ON THE TRIP, PLS VOTE FOR THE PREFERRED DATE HERE:
The aims of the trip
The aim of the trip, as in previous years, is to learn, to have fun, and to promote the name of VDU and Lithuania, so that we could expect Finnish students coming to study to Kaunas in the nearest future, and to expect VDU student be more motivated to go to study abroad.
To fullfil on the aims, we are planning to
2) have a traditional Finnish student party with Finnish students
3) have free time to explore the city
For 1), I am in touch with two professors from the two universities, and we could plan one of the Fridays (01.31 or 02.07) or Mondays (02.03 or 02.10) to have a lecture, depending on when the group of VDU students will be coming to Turku.
For 2), we are collaborating with the Student Association of Turku University (TuKY:
http://tuky.fi/international/), who invited us for what is promising to be an exciting, unique and therefore memorable experience - here is the text of the ad posting:
There is a kitchen and a sauna in the building. We recommend taking a sleeping bag with you. Also, make sure to bring your own foods and drinks!
The price for the most awesome cottage weekend of the winter is 20€ per person. “
If we choose to travel the other weekend - 02.07-10, we still can have a “traditional Finnish party” at this place:
"Parkki has always, since it’s purchase, been an essential part of every TSE student’s student life. Memorable parties, after parties and after after parties will be remembered years after graduation. Parkki is maintained by Parkkiryhmä, a group of your fellow students at TSE. We all respect Parkki as our second home so please do the same. Welcome to Parkki!”. See more at
http://tuky.fi/international/tuky/services-for-international-students/ (see “Parkki”).
Accommodation
While we are still looking for cheap options for accommodation, the following possibilities are there already:
- at the student hotel/hostel, one persons accommodation in a double room: 26 Euro/night
- During the Cottage Weekend (Fri-Sun), the accommodation price will be 20 or 10 Euro (for 2 nights, per person) - depending on whether you sleep in a bed or on the floor in your sleeping bag.
- In your own ice hut - for free :)

A number of our students have already looked into travel options to reach Turku- here they come:
