Hello everyone,
Well am I mad!  Andy has effectively barred me from ushering for the CSO because I had the temerity to inquire on Feb. 21 whether he had begun notifying requestors about their gigs.  In the Spotlight he stated he would start on Feb. 15.  He wrote me back a very nasty email as follows:

"Trudy

I would not want you to hold up other opportunities for me.  Please go ahead and accept the other gig.  I have taken your request off and will not hold it against you.

Considering your busy schedule, you would probably be better off not responding to the Spotlight announcements but responding to the Cyberline announcements for Symphony Center if and when you see one.  That way you do not have to wait.  As was explained to you more than once, giving me one concert out of 22 available does not give you a very high chance of getting it.

Also, if you usher for Kraft Family concerts, Civic Orchestra, Welcome Yule and similar events, or help me with other things when I ask for help you will be able to sign up and get responses earlier.  But then you are so busy with other gigs, you probably have no time for all that any way.  Enjoy your other gigs!"

However, that is not all.  In Monday's Cyberline, Andy posted a number of CSO openings as follows:

CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

We have a very few openings available for the following concerts for SYMPHONY CENTER QUALIFED USHERS only.

Report times is 75 minutes before concert time.  Dress is Penguin

1(c). Shostakovich 11 - Sat., 3/6, 8 pm concert

4(a). Sibelius 5 – Mon., 3/8,  8 pm concert

6(b). Appalachian SpringFri., 3/12, 8 pm concert

6b was the very concert I had requested!  So, of course, I requested it again and again did not get a response.  How can a coordinator bar a member from simply asking whether he had responded to requests yet?

This is exactly why a board member should not be a long time
coordinator. Being a board member should focus on the board
activities and not let the anger of one thing mix with the other.
