*Program Description:*Upward Bound at Boston University is a program
serving 75 Boston Public High School Students by providing academic
instruction, tutoring, social enrichment and personal support.
Students participate in both an academically intensive six-week summer
residential program and an after-school component. For more

*Positions* *Available:* _Life Skills Instructor for Summer Program._
*Position Description:* The Life Skills Instructor is responsible for
teaching five fifty-minute sections of Life Skills, which will meet
two days a week during the six-week summer program. Course material
will focus on Understanding Current Events, Career Exploration,
Research, and Public Speaking. The Life Skills Instructor is expected
to develop and implement course curriculum, provide written
evaluations of students’ performance, monitor one afternoon of study
hall, and attend a weekly staff meeting and orientation.
*The position is part time.* _Summer program instruction dates are
June 25 – July 31, 2009_. A one day orientation/training will take
place the week of June 15.
*Educational*
*Requirements:*Minimum Bachelors degree (Masters preferable) in Health
Education, Social Sciences, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
*Required*
*Experience:* Minimum two years experience in Massachusetts or other
comparable school system. Applicants must possess an understanding of
the needs of disadvantaged youth and creativity to respond to student
learning needs with innovative ideas and approaches without
compromising course content. Excellent interpersonal skills are
essential.
*Salary:* $22 an hour plus prep-time.
