REMINDER: Urban Counselors Association of Massachusetts - January 18th meeting, call for volunteers

Urban Counselors,

Our next UCAM meeting will be Thursday, January 18, here at Chelsea
High, 4-6pm, with hopefully a shorter meeting.

Purpose of meeting:
1.Ratify bylaws
2.Elect officers
3.Discuss training and other topics (if time available)

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please let Brad know if you
would like to volunteer for one of the positions or have an idea of how
to improve the bylaws. Please email Brad (bto...@chelseaschools.com)
to let him know if you will be able to attend the meeting and would
like directions. Ample parking is available at Chelsea High School.

The association's proposed bylaws are available for download from
http://www.urbancounselors.org. These bylaws describe the vision,
mission, and goals of the proposed organization, and describe what the
organization will look like in terms of elected and appointed officers.
Here are some important highlights:

1 - no dues at this time!
2 - primary goals are to provide opportunities for discussion and
professional development around issues central to urban school
counseling practice, and provide an outlet for advocacy efforts

Once we hold elections, we will petition MASCA to become an official
affiliate.

We also have a website that will be expanded in the future. You can
use the website now to have interested colleagues sign up -
http://www.urbancounselors.org .
