UCAM President Brad Toney encourages all urban counselors to attend
this public meeting to speak about the needs of all urban students,
including immigrant students. Whether or not you wish to support the
goals of the MIRA Coalition for immigrant students, this meeting is a
good chance to share your views on what needs to happen to support
urban students to be successful.

Dear Educators and Community advocates,

Today, the Governor's office announced the first public meeting for
the Readiness Project (the task force leading the Governors Ed Reform
initiative). During this open meeting the Governor will share
information about the Readiness Project's state-wide education
strategic planning initiative and provide the opportunity for the
public to express their thoughts & ideas on education.

NOW, is the moment to speak out to the Governor on the needs of
immigrant students! Please join us that evening and rsvp to let us
know we can count on your presence.

What: Readiness Project meeting with Governor Deval Patrick

When: Thursday, October 11, 6:30pm to 8pm (we will begin gathering
with SIM students at 6pm)

Where: Merrymount Elementary School (4 Agawam Road, Quincy)

The SIM group, Student Immigrant Movement, will have a large group of
students at this meeting---come help us support the efforts of
immigrant students to fight for equality in education for all!
