Peace,

I've attached the current playings with USV.  All it does is load up the interface and displays a background image taken from a NASA site that's updated daily(ie., you get a new background to look at every day).  For your reference, the image is retrieved from the following web page when USV is run every time:  http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/

Um, as of now, that's all it does and that's all it's going to do.  Got exams starting Tuesday, so I request Fatiha's, GW.

I've come across an interesting piece of software called Ocean which has some of the data that USV will eventually contain, IA:

http://www.bahai-education.org/ocean/

You may be interested in checking it out.  Of course, God supports the Believers and provides us(USI) with the correct tools at the correct time.  God Blessed Glen to come up with a very usable interface(Current WinQT) that is practical to use and that abstraction is what will be adopted, GW.  By the Grace of God, our system will be a practical toolkit which people will be attracted to from all walks of faith, GW.  It will include a communication tool, and if things time out correctly(God Willing), we will use the Google interface as the chat host, which means, you should be able to contact other users using USV at the same time via the system set up by google by logging into your google account when you start up USV!

The above mentioned Ocean software is sourced to the Bahai's.  USV will be sourced to a site more universally acceptable, GW - along the lines of http://www.UniversalScriptureViewer.org or the like.  Not yet set up!  By having a more acceptable name, our audience increases to people from all religious backgrounds, GW.  Kinda' like how God's message is for all of humanity and not limited to one community, only!

The program seems a bit clunky and STILL isn't very user friendly.  It took me about 10 minutes and a few readings of a help file to finally get to read any of the scriptures available in it.  USV and anything released by USI will be much easier to use, God Willing.

You will be able to open up multiple verse windows(displays) in the main windows, God Willing.

On startup, a requisite will be that at least one display window be displaying the AEV, God Willing.

Concurrently, we have two developers working on this project and all included concerns.  God Willing, USV's brother will be out and usable in 6 months time.

The USV Browser's Specification Sheet has been released in previous posts.

God Bless,

shree

PS.  To be able to run the attached software, you will most probably need to get the latest Jave Runtime Environment 6.0 which is available at:

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Release Candidate

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp
Click Download and select the correct installation for your computer(Most probably Windows XP Offline Version)
Download the File, Run it(by clicking on it), and install the JRE(By following the instruction OR just keep clicking Next.

Universal Scripture Viewer Browser

-Download the attached file(USV.jar) to your computer(Desktop preferably)
-If the Java Runtime Environment has been installed properly, just click on the file and you should see the current state of USV(Not much I know!), and after a few moments, as the background downloads freshly from the NASA site, it will show up in the background of the USV Browser, God Willing.
-For the excitement of things and an AWESOME opportunity to say Praise God everyday, run USV daily(in it's admittedly currently sorry state), and earn some credit for your soul, God Willing.

PS.  Some acronyms used:
USI = United Submitters International
GW = God Willing
JRE = Java Runtime Environment ( http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp )

Salaam Shree,

God bless you for all your efforts and may all your projects "beach" quickly.
Just a small suggestion, in case you haven't factored it in. In a window where a verse or appendix opens, will you have the facility to make a selection by dragging the mouse and pasting into a doc or email? The old Dos QT had that feature and that was great. You could just choose what you want. The current WinQt requires you to F10 and you end up getting whatever is on the screen which you then have to delete after pasting it wherever.

Thanks
Kais
