Greetings from your 2009-2010 Classic Camp PDs, Kuponut and Polka Dot!!
Now that banquet is over and another season of camp has come and gone, it marks the beginning of a new year!!! This means it's time to select the new LSHIP for 2009-2010!! Please note that this email is in regards to interest in applying for the Head Counselor position. Details about applying for Head Counselor Assistant positions are up and coming!! So please be on the look-out if interested!!
In regards to applying for the Head Counselor position, we encourage everyone who is interested to apply!! Having both been through it, we can tell you about all the ways that being a HC is truly an amazing and rewarding experience. However, it is important that if you are thinking about applying, you are ready to make the commitment. As an HC, it will be your vision that sets the tone and direction for your session. Although experience is always a valuable factor, it will be your understanding of how camp works, your commitment to what UniCamp stands for, and your dedication and drive to moving camp's mission in a forward direction that will set you apart as an applicant. Please, when considering the position, really think about what camp means to you and what you can contribute to the UniCamp tradition. Here is the timeline for the Head Counselor application process:
HC Application Timeline:
1. Please let us know that you are interested in applying for Classic Camp or Summit Sessions by this coming Friday, October 23, 2009. Please send us an email at classic...@unicamp.org with your Real Name, Woodsey Name, last session, and whether you are applying for Classic Camp, Summit, or both. If you are interested at all in applying for HC please let us know! Sending in your intent will not commit you to applying for the position; however, it will allow for you to recieve more information about applying for the position as well as the application.
2. Once we've received your interest, you will receive the application that will be due on Friday, October 30, 2009.
3. Interviews will be held the week after applications are due (October 31 - November 6). Please be flexible as we try to schedule in everyone who applies. More information will be included in the application. Thanks for you patience!!
Please be sure that you are also able to make the time commitment. This includes not only LSHIP training during Winter Quarter, but also the time necessary to planning and facilitating meetings/retreat/Camp-a-thon in the Spring. Even if you are familiar with the time requirements for HCA's, please consider that the time commitment for being an HC will be more. Since the position requires more commitment, this will include additional training meetings as well as other HC specific duties.
If you are truly interested in making this commitment, please don't hesitate to apply!! If you have any questions at all about the expectations of being a HC, it's responsbilities etc., don't hesistate to ask! We're always here to answer your questions or, even better, meet in person to answer you concerns. Also look to asking previous HC's you know for advice on what the experience meant to them as well as what to expect.
