Not Hyman's fault of course, but there really aren't many holistic, or
"functional medicine" practioners.
I plugged my zip code into the database he referrs readers to and found
zero doctors within ten miles (and I live in a close-in suburb of
Chicago, so it's not like I'm out in a remote area). Within fifty
miles there only a few and the vast majority of the 8 were
chiropractors.
Chiropractors are great for many things, but they are not, in my
opinion qualified to provide primary care medicine for middle-aged
people with serious health issues -- who I think comprise a demographic
majority of UM book buyers.
So I agree that it would be a good idea to find "functional medicine"
practicioners, it's wishful thinking...............pie in the
sky............stuff for the majority of people in this country. The
population of such qualified MD practioners is very, very small.
