koanh.ha just asked this question in UVSA Northern California:

Vietnamese Americans sick due to Agent Orange exposure

VIETNAMESE AMERICANS SUFFER FROM LEGACY OF THE WAR
--Do you know a Vietnamese American with any of the following diseases/illnesses? +Prostate cancer +Lung or other respiratory cancer +Cancer of the muscle, fat, blood, tissue or lymph vessels +Hodgkins disease +Non-Hodgkins lymphoma +Parkinsons Disease +Leukemia

--Birth defects or Spina bifida (a birth defect that results because the bony portion of the spine did not close properly during pregnancy)?

--Did the person live in an area of Vietnam where Agent Orange was sprayed during 1962-1971? (Quang Nam, Tay Ninh or many other southern provinces)? Many former South Vietnamese soldiers were exposed to dioxin.

The United States Institute of Medicine, US National Academy of Sciences and US Department of Veterans Affairs have done studies and concluded that these diseases are associated with exposure to dioxin/Agent Orange. Some American soldiers serving in Vietnam who were exposed to dioxin between 1962 - 1971 are only now showing symptoms of disease.

American experts believe Vietnamese Americans could also be sick now due to their exposure to Agent Orange during the war. If you know of a Vietnamese American who has one of these illnesses and was exposed to Agent Orange, I'd like to talk to them for my research.
