[UVSAexchange] How Great Leaders Inspire

Here in San Jose, I had the privilege of attending a class taught by Economics Professor Bon-Tai Truongson on advanced Vietnamese cultural applications. Part of the curriculum talked about the Đông Sơn bronze drums. The Đông Sơn culture was a prehistoric Bronze Age age in Vietnam centered at the Red River Valley of northern Vietnam. Speaking with my colleagues within that class, the Đông Sơn drums have become a kind of metaphor for leadership intelligence studies. Simon Sinek, who spoke at a TED Conference, on how great leaders inspire action, talks about a "Golden Circle".

In the first few minutes, if you watch the drawing he makes of the Golden Circle, it resembles the shape of the Đông Sơn bronze drums. It's a very elegant way to encapsulate the "leadership development" mission-objective of all VSAs and Vietnamese leadership organizations and tie it into the fabric of our Vietnamese cultural heritage.
