Here in San Jose, I had the privilege of attending a class taught by Economics Professor Bon-Tai Truongson on advanced Vietnamese cultural applications. Part of the curriculum talked about the Đông Sơn bronze drums. The Đông Sơn culture was a prehistoric Bronze Age age in Vietnam centered at the Red River Valley of northern Vietnam. At this time the first Vietnamese kingdoms of Van Lang and Au Lac appeared. You can find an example of the drum at

Speaking with my colleagues within that class, the Đông Sơn drums have become a kind of metaphor for leadership intelligence studies. Simon Sinek, who spoke at a TED Conference, on how great leaders inspire action, talks about a "Golden Circle".
http://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action.htmlIn the first few minutes, if you watch the drawing he makes of the Golden Circle, it resembles the shape of the Đông Sơn bronze drums. It's a very elegant way to encapsulate the "leadership development" mission-objective of all VSAs and Vietnamese leadership organizations and tie it into the fabric of our Vietnamese cultural heritage.
