On April 30th, 1975,
Saigon fell to North Vietnam and that date forever became
known as Black April.
This tragic event led to the collapse of a
country and a widespread migration ensued thus forming
the Vietnamese diaspora that exists today. Thirty-five years after this
unforgettable event, its effects are still being felt in this immigrant
community whose voice is often muted in American society--especially
that of its youth.
We are pleased to invite you to our
commemoration event: Vietnamese American Journeys. Notable and
insightful speakers have been organized for a panel discussion and an
outdoor performance portion will showcase young talent along with
speakers. Your presence would be greatly appreciated and we hope you
join us in remembering the 35th
anniversary of Black April as well as hearing the stories and seeing the
talent that make this community
undeniably Vietnamese-American.Panelists:
Lâm Quang Thi
Andrew Lâm
